On Sunday 23 May 2021 Newmarket U8s travelled to Cambridge RUFC on Sunday for the last fixture of the short but productive 20/21 season.

Once the players had settled into a last minute changed format of touch rugby, the young squad excelled, demonstrating incredible team play alongside individual flare and commitment.  The two Newmarket teams enjoyed 8 games between them, with tight score lines in every game and coming out victorious in many.

Special mentions have to go to Frankie Frappell, Alfie Grimes, Jamie Martin-Durrant and Ethan McMunn for standout performances.  Coach Joe Parker added “I am extremely proud of all the players, showing great passing skills and playing well as a team”.

Many thanks to Cambridge for hosting a well organised and enjoyable morning and playing some fantastic rugby.

Thank you to all the players, parents, helpers and supporters for making this strange but important season an incredible experience for the U8s.  The squad are very much looking forward to the transition to U9s and the opportunity to experience contact rugby.

Coach Simon McMunn
