This morning, Newmarket Rugby Club had the honour of welcoming representatives from Leicester Tigers to their Sunday morning minis and junior training sessions. Accompanying the Tigers staff was the Gallagher Premiership Cup that was proudly placed on display allowing the opportunity for all players, parents, supporters and coaches to handle and have their photo taken with the cup. A travelling U12 team from West Norfolk, who arrived to play a fixture against NRUFC U12s couldn’t believe their luck to be able to play in front of the trophy.
Chris Maclulay from Tigers comments “to see grassroots mini and junior rugby thriving at clubs like Newmarket proves that the game has a very bright future”
Tigers Joe Latham adds “I had the honour of joining many of the different age grade training sessions this morning, to see the level of skill and enthusiasm being shown by all the players is incredible.”
NRUFC Club Chair and DOR, Peter Boyle comments “To have The Premiership Trophy, alongside Chris and Joe from Tigers here today has been fantastic. These opportunities are instrumental in motivating our young (and old) players. To witness the buzz and excitement of the Prem Cup coming to Newmarket is a day many won’t forget. As a club we would like to extend our thanks to Chris, Joe and Leicester Tigers for making this experience possible.”
